If you are a paying passenger who has been injured in an public transportation accident on a bus, train, airplane or boat, due to the driver’s or owner’s negligence, you may be able to sue the vehicle’s operator and owner. Be sure to obtain the names, addresses and phone numbers of your vehicle driver, owner and all witnesses. If any other vehicles are involved, you should also obtain their vehicle registration number, license plate number, insurance company and policy number.
If you were injured while departing one country to another by airplane or boat, a number of international treaties apply to any action for damages. If possible, do not talk to anyone other than the police about how the accident occurred or the nature of your injuries. Seek medical attention immediately and then contact an accident injury lawyer before speaking with the at-fault vehicle’s insurance company adjuster. This adjuster will be eager to settle your claim quickly, but this is not in your best interest.
