Ph. 780-451-9191 [email protected] I was born in Red Deer Alberta as the oldest of three children and lived on the family farm in my early years. The family moved to Calgary, where I attended Balmoral and Mountain View Elementary schools for grades 1 to 6, Harold Panabaker Junior High school for grades 7 to 9 and Henry Wise Wood High school for part of grade 10. I sold my first motorcycle and worked every summer on construction jobs to help pay for tuition and room and board while I attended Father Athol Murray’s Notre Dame College for grades 10, 11 and 12 at Wilcox Saskatchewan for three years I have been involved with Air Cadets as a civilian instructor. Then I attended Mount Royal College for one year before transferring to the University of Calgary for the next two years. Then I was accepted into the University of Alberta Faculty of Law for three years where I obtained my law degree in 1977 and I continued to work construction jobs to pay for my University years. I did my Articling Student year with the firms Bassie Shymko Hladen Sitko & Kantor, I was admitted to the Bar in 1978 and have practiced with the firms Bassie Shymko Hladen Sitko & Kantor and have been a partner in the firms of Sitko Braithwaite, Braithwaite Kolthammer & Vigen and Braithwaite Boyle. I have been involved for over 47 years with Personal Injury Litigation as a Plaintiffs Counsel beginning in 1977. I’m a sustaining member of the American Trial Lawyers Association, a Founding member of the Alberta Civil Trial Lawyers Association (ACTLA) and former Vice President of ACTLA. I’ve been responsible for organizing and chairing various seminars including seminars put on in conjunction with the Legal Education Society of Alberta and was a member of the British Columbia Trial Lawyers Association. I know from first hand experience the pain and suffering involved with a serious injury accident. In 2017 I was involved in a vehicle accident that left me with a fractured C1, C7, and T1 vertebra on my spinal column, among other serious injuries. I spent over five months in the hospital recovering in two different countries before finally being discharged. Only after extensive rehabilitation and treatment was I able to relearn how to walk and resume my regular daily activities. Now I have a different outlook on life and a greater appreciation of what it feels like to be seriously injured and disabled in an accident. “My law firm Braithwaite Boyle has helped over 20,000 accident injury victims for over 35 years, but living through a serious accident yourself changes one’s perspective”. I’m an avid motorcyclist, science fiction reader, fisherman, ATV enthusiast and outdoors person. |
